Workers at a landfill in Frederick County were shocked to see a woman trapped in a large trash bin truck from a Goodwill Industries store. She had apparently fallen asleep inside the bin and was unable to escape as the bin was dumped in the truck and hauled off to the dump. Once the truck stopped and workers at the landfill opened the truck, the woman exited on her own and took a cab back to Winchester. Although dumpster diving is illegal in Frederick, it is not illegal in Winchester, where the actual “diving” occurred. Therefore, she faces no legal action, just a shock to her pride! Everyone involved was just very happy to learn that the woman was unscathed and able to carry on with her life as usual after.
The 48-year-old Boyce woman crawled into the bin at the Winchester store sometime Wednesday night, couldn’t get out, and fell asleep, said Maj. Robert Eckman, of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office. A truck picked up the bin just after 8 a.m. Thursday and hauled it, along with the unwitting passenger, to the dump, Northern Virginia Daily reported.
Goodwill employees said they’ve had to chase people from the bin in the past.
